You eat what ?!?

I was thinking about dinner choices and came up with the hypothesis that every family has a dish that is a little odd or could be considered kinda yucky to others.

Example: I ate corned beef hash growing up. It consists of canned corned beef, potatoes, and onion cooked in a skillet. I think it is quite delicious, but I can see how others may find canned corned beef off-putting.

Example 2: One of my husband's favorites is Peas and Tuna. It's a white sauce made of milk and butter, with peas and tuna in it. It is served over butter milk biscuits. Say what? Truth be told, I will eat it now because if I go to the trouble to make a nice dinner for my DH, I am not going to make a separate meal for myself.

So I am curious what weird meals did you eat growing up? Leave me a comment and feel shame no more!

I thought I'd get the ball rolling with another example I just thought of. When I was a kid, I was at a friends house and was offered a snack of Miracle Whip on Saltines. Hmmm, yummmy[sarcarm].
Would you like some carbs with your fat or what?

Jon says his is meat pies.
For me - would be that tuna sauce you described, over toast.

The was {I think} the only dish I could NOT eat at Becky's house. Peas and Tuna!! love the tuna but not so much of peas... But I'm not that big on gravy and biscuits anyways. Ryan being the pickiest eater of the Whipples, it's amazing that he loves it... Yuck, I've gotta say... lol I'm not gonna list one, since being Japanese, I've eaten way too many things American's don't agree that it's yummy!! lol

You guys are all crazy. You can't even taste the peas that much. Morgan even likes the peas and tuna. I'd also like to point out that I will eat the corned beef hash when it is left over, but Ashley won't eat peas and tuna left over. =)

While the peas and tuna is strange, I think I got more crazy looks from my friends when I introduced them to my Mom's taco's. My mom grew up in Mexico and in Mexico they sometimes put potato's in their taco's. My grandma then took that one step further and mixed mashed potato's in with the ground beef. It may seem a little weird, but it makes the taco's taste sooo good.

That is one of my FAVORITE food Becky makes, Ryan! Those tacos are by far the best, and you are making me want to eat those right now! {yes, I'm pregnant!} Maybe I will make a request next time I get invited ;-)

Refrigerator stew. Consisted of what ever left overs where in the fridge all going into the stew. I'm not saying it was something that I cared for or recommend...its just what was offered many a time.

p.s. I don't always comment cause for some reason I am bad about it - but I wanted you to know that I enjoy reading your blog. You have a great personality and a darling family. I love all of your craft and various other tips you offer! Thanks!
